Vets have today warned that moves by the European Commission to loosen controls on pet passports could see the return of rabies to the UK.
Specialists writing in the Veterinary Record said that the commission hopes to harmonise the regulations for all pets travelling between EU member states and abandon additional controls for rabies, ticks, and tapeworms on the grounds that "these diseases are now rare and pose little threat".
But the authors say this goes against the advice of the World Organisation

A "Dogmore Stew Festival" organized by Lowcountry Animal Rescue was held on March 6, 2010 held at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.
The purpose was to raise funds to support Lowcountry Animal Rescue.
Guests participated in silent auctions and raffles with prizes ranging from artwork to flea medicine.

Most recently, Murphy served as the executive director of the Eastern Maine AIDS network in Bangor.
Originally from Brunswick, Murphy is a lifelong animal lover with several special-needs pets of her own.
