Support your local chamber of commerce. Your pets will thank you. A former South Florida book publisher has created the state's first Pet Chamber of Commerce, based in Doral.  

They're all around us, literally. Sometimes we know them; other times we wouldn't recognize them if we ran into them at the Wal-Mart. But nonetheless, they've got you surrounded, and usually, they know where we live. They are our neighbors.  

Cache Creek Animal Rescue of Anna recently joined other area animal welfare groups listing their homeless pets on Pet-finder.com , the oldest and largest database of adoptable animals on the Internet. The Web site currently has more than 323,000 homeless pets listed; listings are updated continuously. Nearly 13,000 animal welfare groups worldwide post their pets on the site.  

Riverside, CA, November 21, 2009 --( PR.com )-- The Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center (RHSPAC) has launched, a program that provides free meals for the dogs and cats of homebound elderly and disabled people in the Riverside area. Senior dogs make the best pets! Dakota is a beautiful male 10 year old Siberian Husky who simply wants someone to love him. Dakota is easy to have around, completely housetrained and won't chew your furniture or dig holes.  

During my lunch break today, I drove past a man selling puppies alongside Well Road in West Monroe. He is not breaking the law. He has permission from the land owner and even a license from the Police Jury. His chosen location is less than one mile from the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.

This holiday season, the Carolina Animal Protection So ciety (CAPS) will present its Tree of Lights for the 10th consecutive year in the Jacksonville Mall. Our tree will be located between center court and JC Penny from Nov. 20 through Dec. 29. For a $5 donation, you can purchase a light on the tree to either honor or memorialize a beloved pet. Application forms may be found in the basket right below our sign next to the tree.
